Here are the results of the 2nd Midland League on Sunday 13th July 2025 at Worcester. Another very good team achievement, well done to all who competed on one of the hottest ever matchdays

Lem Adjei equalled his 100m best with 11.7 and recorded a very impressive 23.3 in his first ever 200m.

Also in the 100m, Saxon Westley broke through the 12 second barrier for the first time with a wind legal 11.9 PB.

Brendan was just outside his 100m PB and set a new PB in the 200m.

Ernie (in his Senior Team/Mid League debut) and Louis both came close to their 100m PB and both also did Long Jump, with Louis just 7cm from his best and Ernie setting a PB in his first Long Jump competition.

Max tried a new distance, setting a PB in his first ever 400m race.

Dave Ratcliffe tackled the 800m, 1500m, 3,000m and had a 2nd place in the 3,000m Steeplechase. Dave's 800 time was within 1 second of the v40 club record. Adam Bodin was 3rd in the 3,000m, smashing his PB by 50secs.

Another 4 eventer was Rhys Lees who won the 110H, was 2nd in the 400H, 4th in the Long Jump and joint 2nd in High Jump.

Our 3rd 4 eventer was Rich Woodhall, competing in all 4 throwing events. He was joined in the Discus, Javelin and Shot by Owen and by Geoff in the Hammer. Having turned 45 since the 1st Mid Lge in May2025, Rich broke the club v45 record in the Javelin and then missed the Hammer v45 record by 7cm, saving that one for next time.

An amazing feat that went under the radar last year that needs mentioning now, is that when Rich went to the 1st Mid Lge match on 18th May 2024 he broke 3 v40 club records in the same afternoon, taking the Shot & Discus record from 2007 and improving his own Hammer record

Owen was 2nd in the Javelin and 3B in the Discus, both a PB, with a substantial 2 metre improvement in each. Overall, the 8 places in the 4 throws returned 2 x 1st places, 4 x 2nds and 2 x 3rd.

Lucy Jones had a double win in the 100m and 200m, with her 100m time being just fractions off her new PB set this year. Lucy was joined in both sprints by Cameron who made her debut for the senior team. Cam was 3rd in her 100m, (with the same time as 2nd place) and was 4th in her 200m with a time that equalled her wind legal PB. Cam also set a new PB in the Long Jump

Jessica was 4th in the 400m, breaking her PB set in the previous mid League match in May.

Maisie was 3rd out of the 10 Discus throwers and was just 14cm away from her Shot Putt PB.

Louis, Saxon, Brendan and Lem ran the 4x100 relay in a time of 46.8 for 3rd place. The club's 2002 record of 45.2 could be at risk later in the season.

You cannot have missed me keep mentioning how important officials/helpers are to the team. This match we filled our 6 required roles and also had enough qualified officials to gain the maximum points. From a range of -60 to +20, we got +20. I can't recall that ever happening before!

Congratulations and thanks to everyone competing, judging and supporting.

Match report by Geoff Fullwood, Team manager 18th June 2025

A big thank you to all the athletes who took part in this league meeting

DASH finished 5th out of the 6 teams competing, an improvement from the 6th place finish we achieved in the first event. The difference in results undoubtedly stems from the fact we had more athletes competing at this event.

We had two throwers in Owen and Maisie who competed in 5 events combined which made a real difference in the points that the club scored.

The sprint team throughout the day demonstrated a real togetherness and came home second in a thrilling 4x100m U17 relay, demonstrating that Brendan's 'half time' diet of doughnuts had no impact on performance levels

Rhys, as ever, competed hard in three events.

Success was also had by members of the middle distance group where Luke broke his PB over 3000m and Jacob performing well in the 400m despite on having been training for the event for a short time.

DASH also had the athlete who scored the most points of the day in Lucy.

The best may have been saved for last when DASH brought home the win for the 4x400m relay, the team consisted of Jacob, Jessica, Luke and Lucy.

A big thanks to the following:

  • David Bennet and Robert Williams, our two officials for the day
  • Ian and Steve for their coaching duties
  • In particular Rheanna for carrying out her Starters Assistant duties whilst trying to do a bit of coaching and Debra for sitting in the hut throughout the day as official result recorder.

A lot of time and effort goes into these events by all the above who give up their time willingly whilst often having to combine their own jobs and parenting responsibilities.

We would like to encourage as many athletes as possible to attend the last event of the YDL league and see if we can move up the leaderboard. The better our athletes do the more we are noticed and the more likely athletes will gravitate towards our club.
